Any limited edition ST Dupont will have a serial stating that item's number in the run, e.g. 1006 / 2500 and if you see an ordinary stamp on any limited edition item, it's a fake. ST Dupont stamps their lighters with numbers not aligned in a straight line, some numbers looking higher or lower then others. Counterfeited line 2 have serials engraved in a straight line. Even if your lighter doesn't look like one of the lighters pictured below it still could be fake. Fakes change on a regular basis to try to keep up with ST Dupont. St dupont serial number search. Re: Help with identification of ST Dupont Lighter I would be willing to bet it is only plated and not solid. The Ligne 1 editions are the entry level into the ST Dupont lighter line up. Lovely lighter! There are a bevy of S.T Dupont lighter fakes out there. It seems the only true way to tell if one is a fake is the look of the Serial numbers. The numbers should not be aligned. Each number is hand stamped separately. Somewhere I read that if one calls Dupont and give them the serial number, they will tell you if it is real or fake. Did you ever hear from Dupont about the serial number of that Fidelio FP? There is one for sale on eBay even as I write (#22), and the seller even sent me personally a picture of the serial number on the pen's clip.
